Room 22 investigates!

Room 12 Gumboot Throwing
Team Ngauruhoe are doing Kiwiana as our theme for Term 4 and one of the fun activities that came up was gumboot throwing. Room 12 researched the origins of this activity and watched some cool You Tube videos of the competition in Taihape. One brave student offered her boots for throwing and we excitedly headed out to the field to try it out. There were some interesting variations of throwing techniques and the winning girl and boy won a lolly as bribery. We had a lot of fun and there was a lot of laughter at some of the attempts.

Maunga Ruapehu have recently started our exciting Bizkid$ programme and these are our appointed classroom CEO's. They had to apply to for the job by preparing a C.V. and writing a cover letter. Some students were also required to have an interview in order to gain the position.
Other students are about to submit their business proposals to get a loan and become business managers, or to apply for jobs and become employees. We are learning a lot about successful businesses and brands through our literacy programme at the moment too.

Attention year 8 hunters, duck shooters and clay target enthusiasts. The Taupō Clay Target Club is offering preseason training for the 2024 clay target team. A combined Taupō District college team trains together during terms one to three, and college aged students (current years 8-12) are invited to have a go on Wednesdays during term four. This invitation is open to anyone in the community and adults are most welcome to come along and have a go as well. The club is located at Owen Delaney Park and runs a club practice day each Wednesday from 3.30pm – 5pm.
