Cross Country - Fun Run
It’s been a great day for our Cross Country and Fun Run today. Congratulations to all students who participated and to those who gained places in the event. Thank you to our staff for our organising the day and to the PTA for providing ice blocks for everyone at the Fun Run.
Farewell Mrs de Salis
Next week we farewell Mrs Tabitha de Salis, Room 13’s class teacher, Ngauruhoe Maunga’s team leader and our mathematics curriculum leader. We are grateful for Mrs de Salis’ contribution to Hilltop School and wish her well as she moves to New Plymouth and embarks on her new role as Deputy Principal at at Merivale School.
PTA News
- The PTA met last week and following events have been added to the calendar so save the following dates:
- Pizza Day - 14th September
- Disco - Thursday 12th October - Term 4, Week 1 This disco will be for Year 0-6 students as our Year 7 & 8 students have the social at the end of the year to look forward to. We will send out more information around the organisation including session times for year groups.
- Quiz Night - Friday 27th October
The school is fortunate to have a supportive PTA who have fundraised so that our tamariki can have access to a range of additional resources and opportunities. Each year the PTA sponsors the school swimming sports. They have also topped up the final payment for the school turf, paid for some of the dancing costumes and just this week have allocated $260 to each class so that teachers can purchase additional learning resources for their akonga (learners).
Dance NZ Made
Hilltop School dancers were very excited to showcase their troupe dances at last Wednesday’s Dance NZ Made competition. The students were all AMAZING and we couldn’t be more proud of their efforts and sportsmanship during the long day. They have been so focused and motivated during practices and this has reflected in their results. We would like to congratulate the Year 7 group who came first runner up in the Y7/8 category, as well as the Year 8 group who came second runner up. The Year 7 group, A Little Party, received the highest results for our school and will be representing Hilltop at the Dance NZ Made Nationals competition in September. We are very excited for them and wish them all the best.
We would like to thank our talented choreographers for their time and effort choreographing and running practices with our dancers. We couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you also to parents and caregivers for your ongoing support during this term. We appreciate the time you have spent dropping your child to and from practices, lending a helping hand at rehearsals and on the day, and finally supporting your children at home while they prepared for the competition. We can’t wait until next year!
Have a great week!
