We are looking forward to the disco tomorrow! Thanks PTA ð
ââ Disco Session Times:
Years 1-3 4.30 - 5.30pm
Years 4-6 6.00 - 7.00pm
To ensure everyone's safety, please bring your child to the hall for their session. All children MUST be collected from the hall at the end of their session. No student will be allowed to leave the hall without an adult present. When collecting your child/ren, please enter through hall foyer door, collect your child/ren and exit through end door of hall (you will be directed where to enter/exit). All gates around the school will be unlocked.
Please refrain from bringing any food or drinks from home, there will be snacks & drinks available to purchase and water will be available also (free).
If your child is feeling unsure about attending the disco, our staff and senior students will be there to provide support. If needed, you are also welcome to stay with your child in the hall. Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend the WhÄnau Mix and Mingle, which takes place at the same time as the junior disco in the staff room (by office).
We kindly ask that parents/caregivers refrain from taking photos or videos of any students other than their own children.
We appreciate your support in ensuring the disco is a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.
Enhancing Outdoor Spaces
We're excited to be working on improving our outdoor learning spaces! To make this happen, weâre looking at funding through grants, the school, and our wonderful PTA.
The PTA would love to hear from you! When you drop your child off at the disco tomorrow, youâll have the chance to vote on where you'd like PTA funds to be spent. Simply take a token and choose the project youâd most like to see supported.
Got another great idea? A suggestion box will also be available for you to share any other funding ideas for the PTA to consider.
Your input will help shape the future of our schoolâs outdoor spaces.

Te Roopu Puke Taumata - Hilltop Kapa Haka 2025
Kia ora whanÄu,
Akonga and kaiako (students and teachers) at Hilltop School have been involved in learning Kapa Haka in Term 1. This learning involves waiata and haka connected to NgÄti TÅ«wharetoa and the stories of this rohe. The whole school will continue Kapa Haka in Term 4.
Your child has an opportunity to join Te Roopu Puke Taumata, Taiopenga (The Hilltop Kapa Haka Festival Group). This roopu runs throughout Terms 2 and 3. The Taiopenga (Festival) is a celebration of NgÄti TÅ«wharetoa, te reo MÄori, Tikanga, and waiata-a ringa. The purpose of our involvement is to learn about, uphold, promote and enjoy our rohe (area) celebrations.
If your child chooses to be involved in the Taiopenga Roopu (Festival Group) they will need to be fully involved and committed to learn more about themselves as MÄori and Tauiwi (non MÄori) people of Aotearoa no matter what their whakapapa or personal cultural heritage. Before you fill in this form please talk with your child about this commitment and what it means to be part of a roopu (group).
If numbers allow we will have three (Year 1-3, 4-6 and 7-8) roopu this year.
Te Roopu Puke Taumata, Taiopenga will perform in Term 3 TBC.
Please click HERE to complete the form that will generate our class lists. This form will close on Friday 25th April (second Friday of the holidays) so we can begin mahi in Week 1, Term 2.

Floating Classroom
Rooms 12 and 13 had a wonderful Camp and finished off with an awesome afternoon on the floating classroom on Lake Taupo.
They learnt heaps about our region's local history and geographical features. A highlight was the trip to the Maori Carvings, where they learnt about the significance of the different rock carvings. They all did some map work and enjoyed the varied lessons provided including a picture bingo game. The girls beat the boys in the dance-off on the boat. They tried their luck with fishing and even caught a trout! - though they had to put it back as it was too small.
It was a wonderful ending to a great camp and a big thank you goes to all our wonderful camp parents who did a great job. You are legends!.
